I'm inclined to think that my pancake lens matches up better to my T4i than my T2i. I did take the T2i shot more than once due to the results I got. I was 5 feet away and should have 6 inches worth of clarity. Because after we autofocus, any slight movement away or towards the objects can give us soft out-of-focus images.ДoF is not an issue. Without looking at a DOF calculator or chart, won't that give you a rather shallow depth of field at 40mm FL, especially when you are close to the shelf? That's why I was wondering if you had used a tripod. DSHAPK asked me if I had done any tests so I did a quick one. When I took this test I was writing in a thread how I had not done any tests but that to my eye, the T2i was sharper than the T4i. If there is, it's usually a user problem.that is, it's then me. Both of my Canon T2i (550D) cameras focus accurately. Were both of these cameras on a tripod? Did you take repeated tests? I have two Canon T2i (550D) cameras and if they consistently performed like what you showed us, I would get another camera. Olga, something doesn't seem right with your test with the Canon T2i. No doubt, the latest AF is bound to be as good as any before it, and probably even better.

I don't know how much that difference depends on the AF point configuration or hardware, but my guess is it's worth going for the latest AF package if you can. 2.0 firmware for the 7D seems to have brought a similar benefit to that model. It's clear that cameras like the 50D and 7D needed AF microadjustment for critical focus, but the 60D doesn't seem to need it anywhere near as much. I believe they are superior to the regular non-cross type even if not high precision. You're right - I took the cross-type outer focus points as high precision. As someone who works off the center focus point nearly all the time, the extra high-precision focus points of the T4i wouldn't be a huge attraction for me.ДЄll the T*i models have one high-precision AF point, in the centre, so I guess you mean the outer points being cross-type (they are only 'standard' f/5.6 precision).
